Site Assessments: DETAILED SITE INVESTIGATION
Contaminated sites are investigated and managed in a phased approach whereby contaminated sites are assessed in a progressive manner based on the level of information required. This approach enables a comprehensive and a systematic collection of data in order to determine the environmental status of a site while keeping the assessment and management costs to a minimum. This approach is also an internationally accepted best practice for investigating and reporting on contaminated sites.
At this point, it is known that a site is contaminated. This investigation involves the soil, groundwater and/or soil vapour assessment at a site in order to determine the exact lateral/vertical extent, level and type of contamination and the potential number, type and vicinity of sensitive receptors that may be impacted by the contamination. Several investigations may be required to accurately acquire the detailed information that will be required to mitigate the contamination encountered. The mitigation approach may involve one or more of the various alternatives such as encapsulation, management, risk assessment, remediation, etc.
Our staff routinely conduct detailed site investigations on numerous types of contaminated sites with a range of sensitive receptors.
